Negev Bedouin are now demolishing their own homes out of despair | +972 Magazine

 

“Who wants to destroy their own home and leave their children
outside? This is not a democratic country. They see this as an act of
weakness, but it is not weakness. The state has already destroyed three
of my homes.”

After losing a lengthy legal battle against the
state, residents of the unrecognized Bedouin village Sawa have come to
the conclusion that watching the authorities destroy their homes is far
more traumatizing for their children.

Now they have resigned themselves to demolishing their own homes.
