Angry Birds: Male Grouse Do Battle In Mid-Air For The Right To Mate<br>VALLA, FINLAND - APRIL 2015: Two male Black grouse (Tetrao / Lyrurus tetrix) fighting at Lek, in April 2015 in Vaala, Finland.

THESE grouse are bringing a whole new meaning to angry birds. Spring is often associated with a time of peace and tranquillity however these male grouse clearly didn’t get the memo as they see it as the season to do battle. The powerful images show male black grouses in Vaala, central Finland, fighting it out for the right to mate. Every spring male grouse congregate in what is called a Lek to engage in a show of strength by fighting and posturing in the hopes of catching the eye of female grouse.
